  • Just received news that my story Like a Mother is in the Black Pear in the Black Pear anthology On the Day of the Dead​​

  • My flash story Apple Picking has now been published in issue 9 of Firefly Magazine.You can read it here

  • I enjoyed attending the launch of the BSSA anthology on 24 November. As one of the long list judges this year it was fun to meet some of the writers. I was pleased to be asked to read an extract of the 3rd prize winning story by Sara Collins​​​

  • Very pleased to have had a flash long listed in Exeter Flash Competition. Hopefully with a bit of tweaking it can go on to greater things

  • The Worcs Litfest flash anthology with two of my stories is now out. It's called A Cache of Flashes. One is my shortlisted story Deposed and the other, Searching has also been selected by the judges for inclusion

  • My story Closing the Door has been round the houses. One of its successes was to be longlisted in the inaugural Bath Flash Fiction Award in 2015. Am very pleased to hear that it will be included in their anthology out early 2017

  • Thrilled that my story Like a Mother was Highly Commended in the Erewash 2016 short story comp.

  • Really enjoyed reading at Tino Prinzi's launch of his anthology Dots on 18 November. Lovely to read with Tino, Calum Kerr and Jude Higgins. Two days later, I read two of my stories at the launch of the Worcs Lit fest flash anthology. Worcester is always fun to read at and that was my fourth year in a row reading there. Good to see old pals and to meet new people

  • I was honoured to be asked to be a reader for the Bath Short Story Award this year. I read over 200 stories and was pleased that one I picked was awarded third prize

  • What a fantastic evening of flash readings we had in Bath at the end of July. It was organised by the Bath Flash Fiction Award. I read my stories, A Collection, A Weekend Away and Launch Pad. I was joined by the fab writers Meg Pokrass, Tino Prinzi, Ken Elkes, Carrie Etter and Jude Higgins

  • I enjoyed reading my story Launch Pad at the October Speakeasy in Bath on 4 October 2016. It's always a fun story to perform

  • I really enjoyed reading at the 2016 NFFD event in Bristol. This is my third time at this event and I find it a little easier to read each year. Lovely to see so many familiar faces and meet some new ones

  • More than a little pleased that my story A Collection has been accepted for inclusion in the 2016 NFFD anthology. The anthology is called A Box of Stars Beneath the Bed and will be out shortly. This is my fourth year in a row that I have had a story the NFFD in the anthology

  • Shortlists can be encouraging and was pleased that a story I wrote on theme of envy was shortlisted in July 2016's themed Retreat West comp

  • The writer, Meg Pokrass is moving to the UK soon and to welcome her. The Bath Flash Fiction Award has arranged an evening of Flash on 29 July in Bath. I am over the moon to be reading at this event along with Meg, Carrie Etter, Tino Prinzi and K M Elkes

  • My Exeter Writers long listed story has now been shortlisted!

  • My story Matching was published on FlashFlood blog at approx 11 am on NFFD (25 June). You can read it here

  • I have not entered any Retreat West flash comps for a while so was pleased to be shortlisted for their theme of 'danger'

  • I love being shortlisted in competitions, but there's nothing nicer than actually winning a prize, so I was really pleased to be awarded second place in the NAWG 100 word comp recently

  • I enjoyed reading my flash story Closing the Door at the inaugural Speakeasy Bath event on Thursday 28 April 2015. I was really pleased to have this story accepted for this as it's been round the houses a bit

  • Am thrilled that I have a story longlisted in the 2016 Flashbang crime flash competition. That's twice in three years. Am obviously evil

  • I have had a story short listed in Flash 500 the first quarter of 2016.. I am really pleased at this as it's a tough competition

  • So pleased to have been asked to read again at the 2016 Bristol event for NFFD. Thanks to funding from The Arts Council it is a free event

  • Really nice to have some good writing news with an old story of mine which was shortlisted in the 2015 Doris Gooderson short story competition

  • It's been a long time since I've had news about a story that wasn't flash so I'm delighted that I have a story long listed in the 2016 year's Exeter Writers Short Story comp
